Live in Brazil – Floating World Records
In November 2007 DAEVID ALLEN founder and leader of the legendary GONG went to Brazil for a series of concerts following the invitation to play at a festival held by SAO CARLOS Federal University. Those concerts went under the name GONG GLOBAL FAMILY and included musicians of the Invisible Opera Company of Brazil. This album was recorded at the first concert at SESI Theatre in SAO PAULO registering a rare and unique live performance, an evening of celebration of GONG music. Special mention to the eleven minute version of ‘Fohat Digs Hole In Space’, and the GONG classic ‘Radio Gnome’. Out of stock Dickey Betts is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer best known as a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band. Betts was the writer and singer on The Allmans' hit single "Ramblin' Man" but is also renowned for composing instrumentals, the most notable being "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Jessica" (the latter widely known as the theme to the TV show Top Gear). He was inducted with the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and also won a best rock performance Grammy Award with the band for "Jessica" in 1996. Betts was ranked No. 58 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list in 2003. Since leaving the The Allman Brothers he has carved out a successful solo career. Lets Get Together was originally released in 2001 under the name of The Dickey Betts Band, a solid 6 piece with a similar line up to The Allman Brothers. This is a limited edition double vinyl LP. In the early seventies he had a long standing working relationship with BONNIE RAITT, who describes SMITHER as “my Eric Clapton”. Up On the Lowdown was originally released on HIGH TONE Records in 1995. Drive You Home Again was also on HIGH TONE Records originally released in 1999. SMITHERS gravelly instantly recognisably voice is a perfect fit for his sharply honed lyrics and his blues and folk based music. He is a frequent visitor to the UK and Europe and hopefully we will see him again in 2015.
